On behalf of my three sisters and brother, we want to formally thank you for the wonderful care you all provided to our mother Madeline "Mimi" Myers during her nine months at St. Ed's.  Her decision to move to St. Ed's was, as usual, a difficult one even though she'd been a volunteer herself and on the Board several years ago.

What mom was most concerned about was maintaining as much independence as possible while having assistance available when needed, and that was exactly what having her own room afforded her.  It also afforded us peace of mind knowing she was being well cared for and we didn't have to constantly worry about her.

She often remarked how much she enjoyed the meals - especially dessert.  Forming friendships with all of you was probably her most important goal - she always enjoyed talking to people and she usually ended up knowing more about you than you did about her!

We thank you all for everything you do for all the residents there.  I know there are times when things are difficult and you wonder whether anyone appreciates you - well we do and I'm sure the other families do too (unfortunately you probably don't hear it often enough).

I wish to thank the staff of St. Edward Home for the excellent care you provided my late mother, Grace MacNamara Richardson, during her period of residence.

My wife and I were always impressed with the competence and professional dedication of the staff, and the meticulous care provided the residents and the building itself.

You kept my mother from avoidable pain and discomfort for which my family and I will always be grateful.

Sincerely yours,
James F. Richardson

During Mother's, Peg Wagner, almost seven year stay with you, she never complained about being unhappy.  I was blessed to have a kind and caring mother, and I know St. Edward was the place for her.

Over the course of those years, I had concerns, but they were resolved without difficulty.  It was during her last several weeks when she was bedfast that I experienced the genuine feelings of the staff.  They are for their residents.  Mother received excellent attention and every effort was made to keep her comfortable.  I witnessed the tears in the aids' eyes when they came into the room to see her; I watched as her friends would wheel into see how she was doing; I heard Sister Bea, Sister Gerald, and Father Wilson come in to pray for her; I received so many hugs and words of solace when I came to see her that I thanked God she was able to live in such a warm community.

Mother, when she was much younger, was very active and enjoyed making Christmas wreaths and other decorations.  With the memorials received, I would like that money to be spent on creative crafts that would benefit the nursing residents.

Thank you for all that you have done and certainly for remembering Mother by submitting her name to the Passionist Monastery where she will be remember in the daily prayers and the Masses.

Sincerely,
Marjorie Laraway
