Must you be of the
Catholic faith to live at The Village at St. Edward?
A. No, individuals of all
faiths are welcome.
Independent Living
Q. Is the deposit
to be placed on the
Independent Living
waiting list refundable?
A. Yes, the deposit is
fully refundable.
Q. Must I come to dinner
every night at the same time?
A. No, the
main dining room is open for dinner anytime between
4:00 p.m.
and 6:00 p.m. It is not necessary to inform us what
time
you will be dining. If you are entertaining guests and
would
like to reserve the private dining room, you are asked
to phone
ahead and reserve this space so that it can be ready
for
you and your guests.
Q. What are the
expectations for dress in the dining room?
A. Casual dress is most
appropriate. We do ask
that shorts and sweat
suits not be worn in the
dining room.
Q. I am still driving.
When I decide to stop driving
what transportation
services can I except from
Independent Living?
A. The chauffer is
available for residents on a six day
a week basis.
We offer scheduled trips to the
grocery store, bank,
post office, shopping mall,
doctor and dentist
offices, beauty and barber shops
and area churches.
We also provide transportation
on a scheduled basis to
various activities
throughout the week.
Nursing Care/Assisted Living
Q. Is there a charge to be
placed on the waiting list
for Nursing
Care/Assisted Living?
A. No, there is no charge
to be placed on the waiting
list for nursing
care or assisted living. However,
the required
paperwork must be completed before
an individual's name
can be added to the list.
Q. How long of a wait for
a room is there at St. Edward?
A. After we receive the
proper admission paperwork,
the individual's
name is placed on our external
waiting list. The length
of time for a room/apartment to
become available can
vary due to such factors as
number of discharges and
the number of on-campus
individuals in need
of services.
Q. Is a resident required
to have advance directives
before admission to
St. Edward?
A. A resident is not
required to have a Durable Power
of Attorney for
Health Care or a Living Will
when admitted to St.
Edward. Copies of these
forms are provided
to residents upon admission and
we encourage
residents to consider such matters.
Q. Are there limits to
what personal possessions
a resident can bring
with them to St. Edward?
A. Room/apartment size varies to a
certain degree
throughout nursing
care and assisted living.
Residents are
encouraged to bring with
them possessions
which will make them feel at
home and comfortable
in their surroundings.
Specific questions
can be directed to Social Services
or the Nurse
Manager.
Q. What payment
arrangements can be made for services?
A. St. Edward accepts
payment from Medicare,
Medicaid and private
resources for nursing care.
We accept only
private payment for assisted
living services.
Payment for services is discussed
well in advance of
admission. Specific questions
should be directed
to the Director of Admissions.
